Attorney Benjamin Owens-Filice is a Senior Associate on Robinson & Henry’s Civil Litigation Team. An accomplished litigator with a proven track record of success, Ben is committed to procuring justice for his clients.

Following a distinguished career in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, Ben transitioned into private practice in 2023. He approaches each case with the same fortitude that earned him a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during his military service.

As a civil litigation attorney, Ben has achieved favorable results for clients at mediation, trial, and at the appellate level. He has defended more than 70 clients against personal injury lawsuits, many of which demanded damages in the millions of dollars. Ben’s clients include executives and representatives for some of the U.S.’s largest insurance companies.

In private practice, Ben has handled a variety of civil litigation matters, including breach of contract, workplace injuries, and first- and third-party personal injury cases.

Ben’s formidable litigation skills were honed during his time as a JAG. During his military career, he was a special victims prosecutor, a legal advisor for the U.S. Army Special Forces Command, an appellate attorney, and a general crimes prosecutor.

JAG Highlights

  • Oversaw the prosecution of more than 3,000 misdemeanor cases as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney
  • Prosecuted more than 20 high-profile sexual assault courts-martial and supervised 100 others
  • Implemented the ethics program for the Army’s special forces and managed high-profile investigations at home and abroad, including Mali, the middle east, and Niger
  • Wrote the majority opinion in three death penalty cases, including the initial opinions for two of the most notorious murder cases in U.S. Army history
  • Provided critical advice to special forces Commanders, military attorneys, and the Commanding General at a time when both the media and Congress were focused on their sensitive missions
  • Advised ten senior appellate judges in over 200 felony cases

“The military taught me the importance of honor, integrity, and selfless service,” said Ben. “Now I bring those values to the practice of civil litigation in service of my clients.”
