An experienced trial attorney and litigator, Matt is an associate attorney with Robinson & Henry. His areas of practice include domestic relations, criminal defense, and civil matters.
Previously, Matt worked as a senior associate/trial attorney at a law firm in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where he focused on criminal defense and domestic relations, including drug felonies, domestic violence, DUI and DUI drugs, primarily practicing in Garfield, Pitkin, and Eagle Counties. Matt’s family law experience includes serving as lead attorney in a reunification case following an international kidnaping. Prior to that, he served as deputy district attorney for the Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s Office, where he managed a county court docket, handled jury and bench trials, motions hearings, as well as plea negotiation and settlements. His experience also includes internships with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Circuit Court of Cook County Law Division, both in Chicago.
Throughout Matt’s education and career, his primary motivation has been to help everyday people resolve problems in their daily lives. His pursuit of this goal began as an undergraduate at Wittenberg University in Ohio, where he earned a degree in psychology. He went on to receive his master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver and later continued his education at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he earned his Juris Doctor. During law school, Matt participated in both Law Review and Moot Court Competitions.
Matt is also involved in the community, as he serves on the board of directors for the Denver chapter of Gift of Adoption, a non-profit that helps raise funds to assist families with the significant expenses associated with adoption. Matt is also on the board of directors for AspenStrong, a non-profit community-based program promoting mental hygiene and providing individuals with links to mental health services.
Matt still makes time to be a ski instructor and enjoys rafting, golf, and hockey. A Chicago native, he is still a fan of the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks, although he has been known to attend Colorado Rockies games.
