question iconI re signed a new lease on July 1st, 2021. I was told my rent was going to be a certain amount, my lease says the amount I’m suppose to be paying. I have been paying this amount for 4 months, and have not been told different. Then on Monday October 25th I received an email, and it was telling me I had a charge of $340 as my balance on my account. I was confused by this email so I called to speak with my property manager, and find out she no longer works for the company. Still have not spoke to anyone about this. Then I received another email telling me that my rent is a different amount, and I have been paying the wrong amount for 4 months, and this is a build up of what I haven’t paid.

Your written lease is a contract neither party has the unilateral right to change the terms of that agreement. I hope that helps.
