Hi, my name is Ryan Robertson. I’m an attorney with Robinson & Henry, and I wanted to talk with you today and give you some quick tips about if you find yourself being a defendant in a lawsuit. First, don’t panic. Every study out there will say that somebody who’s panicking tends to make the wrong decisions in this case.

Especially if you find yourself in the middle of a lawsuit, especially one that has a huge dollar figure, you’re going to find yourself really wanting to panic, don’t. Breathe, remember when you were served, and you have 21 days to respond from when you were served with that complaint.

Two, gather up all documents and every other bit of evidence related to that court case, whether it’s an email, text message, photo, anything like that. Those are going to be things that your attorney is going to need to be able to effectively represent you.

And third, get an attorney. Attorneys are here to help you, and most importantly, they’ll be able to answer the complicated questions going forward in this in order to make sure that you have, not only the best representation but also the best peace of mind.
