Partner Shannon Nichols is an accomplished domestic relations attorney with extensive experience guiding individuals and families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Prior to joining R&H, Shannon served as Senior Assistant County Attorney for Arapahoe County. There, she successfully managed a heavy caseload of up to 70 child-protection cases at a time while serving as the sole attorney for a treatment court pilot program. Protecting children has been a central focus of Shannon’s career. As a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem in Colorado, she advocated for young people in juvenile delinquency and truancy cases.
Shannon’s courtroom record is matched by her ability to build cases designed to hold up on appeal. During her seven years as a Deputy Attorney General in New Jersey, she tried hundreds of abuse, neglect, and parental-rights termination cases. She also handled high-profile special assignments for the State, including the landmark Abbott v. Burke case about public school funding, and a separate appeal that resulted in a precedent-setting decision—work that earned her the New Jersey Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service.
Clients who hire Shannon gain an advocate who is as formidable in the courtroom as she is attentive to the unique needs of each family she represents.
