Curtis Mazzaferri is an associate with the firm’s Family Law practice. From high-conflict divorces and child custody disputes to emergency and permanent protection orders, Curtis guides clients through every phase of a domestic relations case.
Before joining R&H, he represented criminal victims in high-conflict family law disputes at Colorado’s largest legal aid nonprofit. There, he guided hundreds of clients through divorce and custody proceedings and handled numerous contested hearings in District and County Courts. His background also includes civil litigation involving wrongful death, construction defect, and insurance disputes. That work sharpened his evidence-gathering, financial analysis, and deposition skills. He now leverages that experience to evaluate complex marital assets and advocate for his family law clients.
Curtis earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he also received a certificate in Constitutional Rights and Remedies. Clients value his calm approach through strategy, negotiations, hearings, and post-decree enforcement.
Representative Matters
Abduction prevention - Secured abduction prevention measures that awarded the client sole custody and decision-making responsibility for the parties’ shared minor children and restricted the opposing party to supervised visitation.
Post-decree enforcement - Won a contempt finding against the opposing party for failing to comply with the Court’s permanent order in a divorce matter.
Relocation permission - Earned a permanent order granting the client sole decision-making authority for the parties’ shared minor children and permission to relocate them out of state.
Civil protection order - Obtained a permanent civil protection order for the client on the basis of domestic abuse and stalking.
