I am a self published author. When I Google my first book title, various vendors are selling it and I don't get royalties. How can I prevent this?

Here are a few steps you can take to prevent the unauthorized selling of your book and deal with the the current situation: 1. Register your copyright: Registering your copyright will give you legal standing to take action against infringers. 2. Use ISBN: Obtaining an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) for your book will make it more difficult for unauthorized vendors to sell it, as it will enable you to track and report sales of your book. 3. Contact them to stop infringing: Contact the infringer and ask them to stop. If they don't comply, you can contact the online marketplace and request that they remove the listing. 4. Watermark your book: Watermarking your book with your name, or any other unique identifier, makes it much harder for people to reproduce and sell copies without your permission. 5. Utilize Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology: DRM technology protects your book from being copied, printed, or edited without your permission. 6. File a copyright lawsuit: If you can't resolve the issue, you will need to initiate a copyright lawsuit. Often we will start with a demand letter to see if that gets the desired result. 7. Good luck in your case. If you would like to speak with an attorney at Robinson & Henry, please contact us here.
