This can be very confusing, as here. Who should you now send the rent to? Who ever is the legal owner of the property, which could be the wife, the estate, or the 3 adult children. You will need to pay the rent, but you also don't want to pay the rent to the wrong person. You'll need to obtain assurances when you do hand over the rent that it is being accepted by or for the proper party. If you are unable to resolve this you may want to contact an attorney to work this out with the family on your behalf.
