Your Legal Questions Answered

question iconI am a homemaker . My husband filed for divorce. Do you work with low income on the retainer fee

We keep our retainer fees lower and provide resources to third-party lenders* that can often help with the retainer fee. Further, in Colorado, during divorce proceedings, the court may consider various factors when determining whether one spouse should contribute to the other's attorney's fees. One such factor is the financial resources of each spouse, including their ability to pay for legal representation. If one spouse, in this case, the husband, has significantly more financial resources than the other, the court may order him to pay for the wife's attorney's fees. This is particularly common in situations where one spouse is a homemaker or has limited income compared to the other. Additionally, if the husband initiated the divorce proceedings and the wife lacks the financial means to retain legal counsel, it may strengthen her case for receiving assistance with attorney's fees. However, it's essential to note that each case is unique, and the court will consider various factors before making a decision regarding attorney's fees.
