question iconI have all the correspondence. I completed the work requested, photographed it and sent it to the board immediately. I told them I would not have the work done by their due date because it was winter. I indicated the work would be done after Mothers Day 2021 when Home Depot were had stock of products. They fined me $250. I appealed, reiterating the realistic time frame and letting them know that during the period of April 1 to mid June we had a family crisis. My mother died and I couldn’t leave her side. These bastards said they didn’t care and fined me any way. What are my options? Or will it cost too much to battle them. They have since sent me another fine for not paying the first – $500.

We are very sorry that you are having to deal with this. You may be successful in this dispute but it is not likely a financially viable case to bring a lawyer into as it seems that your total damages are less than $1,000. You should consider bringing a lawsuit in small claims court. You can file this at your County Courthouse.
