question iconIRS sent me a correction form for my 2019 taxes. They stated and documented there was an excess 2,800 put on my S.S. withholdings and it wasn’t flagged or got by TurboTax.

Because the taxpayer is responsible for the tax liability and preparing the tax return properly, you cannot avoid liability to the IRS based on TurboTax's failure to flag your S.S. withholding. If you are penalized, you may be able to make a reasonable cause argument based on the TurboTax issue, or avoid penalties base on first-time penalty relief.
