question iconMy roommate is unwilling to end our lease early because she says she does not have the money. I have tried to communicate with them many times but they have been unresponsive until I mention ending our lease. Is there anything I can do to get them to pay their part and end our lease?

It appears that you are referring to a Joint Lease obligation where you wish to terminate the lease early and pay a termination clause. Maybe you have a separate agreement between roommates that would allow you the legal authority to make this demand of your roommate. Otherwise, your best option may be to finding a replacement for yourself who could be substituted into the lease thus allowing you to be released.
