In a perfect world, all parents would prioritize their children and cooperate for their kids’ sake. Unfortunately, some parents care more about getting back at their ex than doing what’s right.

We recently had a client who asked her child’s father to contribute $400 a month in child support. Not only did he refuse, he hired a lawyer to fight her request.

As one might imagine, the combative approach taken by our client’s ex backfired. Instead of paying no child support, the judge ordered the father to pay more than double the amount our client requested, plus arrears.
