Colorado law does not regulate drones. The Federal Aviation Administration does, but the FAA rules focus on airports and the safety of passengers. The regulations don’t delve into what you can do when you feel your personal space is compromised. Denver 7 News reached out to Robinson & Henry for some legal insight into drones and privacy. R&H Managing Partner Donald Eby told Denver 7 that it’s understandable to have privacy concerns about drones. Unfortunately, Don said there is not much anyone can do about it. "Does a person actually have a right to prevent that drone from filming them or from entering the airspace over their property?" he said. "The answer to that is almost always no because we don't own that airspace." Learn about drones and privacy laws. You may have a civil nuisance claim if a drone owner continues to fly a drone so close to your house that it appears to be “peering” into your window. Call 303-688-0944 for a case assessment.
