About the Role

Robinson & Henry, P.C., one of Colorado's fastest-growing law firms, is seeking an experienced accounting leader to join our team as the Assistant Director of Accounting. This role is designed for a high-performing accounting professional who is ready to expand their leadership responsibilities and prepare for future Director- level opportunities.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on accounting leader that is equally comfortable supervising and reviewing the work of others and personally preparing, processing, and posting accounting transactions in a lean, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Human Resources, this role combines team leadership with direct transactional responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & General Ledger:

Ensure general ledger accuracy and integrity while supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual accrual- and cash-basis financial reporting.

  • Close, Reconciliations & Controls:

Actively support the monthly close, including journal entries, balance sheet and fixed asset reconciliations, documentation, audit trails, and timely resolution of reconciling items.

  • Hands-On Accounting Operations:

Maintain direct responsibility for development of accounting team members, assigned transactional functions, and actively prepare, process, post, review, and approve select daily accounting transactions as workload and business needs require.

  • Financial Analysis & Insights:

Analyze variances, revenue recognition, and profitability by practice group, client, and matter; develop dashboards and KPIs that provide actionable insights to firm leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years of team leadership

  • Strong accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and analytical expertise

  • Strategic and hands-on leader with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Proven process improvement capabilities with advanced Excel skills and strong attention to accuracy and accountability

  • Professional services, legal, and/or trust accounting experience preferred
