Life is for service. - Mr. Rogers
Richard Schmittel’s inspiration for attending law school is simple, but powerful: He wanted to help people.
Civil litigation felt like the best place for Richard to lend a helping hand, as it encompasses many different areas of the law. Richard credits his time as a prosecutor with the 6th Judicial District Court for teaching him how to become an effective litigator.
Richard takes a very client-focused approach to cases, always keeping in mind that clients are often experiencing a very stressful time in their lives and that this is more than likely their first introduction into the legal system. Helping clients navigate the legal system and fighting for their best interests always comes first for Richard.
Richard spends most of his spare time mountain biking, rafting, hiking, and camping.
