Unfair apartment move out charges

I decided not to extend my lease and asked to apartment management for a move out notice. They told me it should be 60 days notice and my lease were ending 55 days later, and they forced me to write move out day 5 days later then my lease finish day. I said ok to pay rent for 5 more days even I’ll not be there. But after the move out I see that they charged me a 500$ month to month payment fee and plus 50$ month to month fee for first month (just 5 days). I think it should not be easy like that, can I do something about this? Please help me.

You may want to consider initiating a Small Claims Court case against the apartment complex. But, before you do, read your lease carefully. Any, rights your landlord has such as extensions, month to month charges, and termination notice should be included in the lease.

Good luck!
