What is dental malpractice?

Dental malpractice could be a wide variety of injuries. Essentially, dental malpractice is whenever a dentist falls below the standard of care. The standard of care is to find something that you know a reasonable dentist really should never do when treating a patient. We do see situations similar to the situation you described where an instrument is left inside the body. Often we see instruments that are left inside the teeth following a root canal. But really it could be a failure to refer you to a specialist, a failure to really administer proper follow-up care, it could be a failure to institute the right plan up front, or just a failure in doing that exact procedure that they’re trying to do.
