Frustrating limitations

“Now I can’t even decide how I’m going to prioritize my day. Now I can’t talk on the phone and check email at the same time; and, it’s very frustrating to a supervisor or a teacher or a spouse who would say, “Hey, you used to be able to do these things and you used to be able to get all this done in one day.”

Sure, it may be frustrating for them, but it’s even more frustrating for you because you know your limitations now.

Are you stuck with those limitations?

So many of those things that you used to be able to do you can no longer do because of your brain injury. And you might be wondering, “Is this it? Have I lost those abilities? Is this the brain I’m stuck with for the rest of my life?”

What you should do

Here’s what I tell them in response, “There are plenty of different treatment options out there, but it starts with getting a diagnosis and starting with some kind of treatment. The sooner you start, the better we can help your brain recover from the injury that it suffered.”
