I have a business relationship as a contractor with a local carpentry LLC. The owner insisted I sign a noncompete before beginning work, which I agreed to. Things have turned sour and now I am exploring the idea of starting side projects to begin my own business. Will I find any repercussions by doing so? As far as I know, the guidelines of a noncompete (sale of a business, trade secrets, management) don’t fall on my specific circumstance.
